Luchtoorlog 1940-1945 Gemeente Epe

Authors

Gerrit Kamphuis

Gerrit has always had an interest in airplanes and history. Especially World War II fascinated him, even as a kid. In 1995 he started with plowing through the Regional Archives in Epe looking for information about crashed airplanes, collecting declassified documents and tracing possible eye witnesses and family members of deceased pilots. In 2007 he decided to join the research force of Broken Wings. Throughout the years he managed to complete the story about what happened in Epe during World War II piece by piece.

Silvie Kamphuis

Daughter Silvie never inherited any of her dad’s airplane fanaticism. Also with birth year 1985, the war never played any role in her life. Still Silvie had no single doubt when her dad asked her for help, turning his research into a book. She loves writing and enjoys a good story or adventure. She vividly remembered her dad’s gruesome stories about severed heads rolling into the bushes after a crash and pilots bailing out of aircrafts with damaged parachutes. She felt challenged to combine dry historical facts with juicy and personal stories, to turn Gerrit’s lifework into an exciting readable book.
